War of the Wings

War of the Wings is one of Georgia Southern University's biggest philanthropy events that is held each year. This year was our 28th annual. Myself and two other chapter members were in charge of planning and organizing this years event.
War of the Wings is a event hosted by Kappa Delta Sorority called our Shamrock event. All of the proceeds are donated to Prevent Child Abuse America and Prevent Child Abuse Bulloch County. Each year, 8 to 10 restaurants donate anywhere from 250 to 1500 wings to compete in the wing competition. Each restuarant has a different colored tooth pick in each wing and the ticket buyers choose which wing is their favorite. Which ever business wins receives an award from Kappa Delta.
We also hold a raffle which gift cards, shirts, and prizes are given away to raffle ticket buyers. There is a dunking booth, a DJ, drinks, chips and tshirt sales all at the event. Each year we have raised $10,000 dollars and we have reached that goal again this year.
This event required an extreme amount of planning from each member. We had to promote the event through flyers, sheet signs and ticket selling. We had to visit each restaurant individually, talk to the owners and managers in order to receive full pariticipation. Parent and friend letters were sent out weeks before the event. Set up for the event took hours.
