Girl Scout Events

Girl Scouts is Kappa Delta's other national philanthropy and we are committed to inspring these young women to reach their full potential. We have hosted many recent events at the Kappa Delta House that include themese of Friends Don't Bully and MEdia day.

For the Friends Don't Bully event we hosted the event at our house and invited girls of all ages to come and learn with us. The girls went through 5 different stations each consisting of a different theme. The first one was different bullying examples and what to do when someone is bullying you or a friend. The second station was friendship bracelet making table that each girl got to make a bracelet with their friends. The third was a station of cyberbullying. The girls learned about the different ways of cyberbullying and how to handle those as well. They then preceeded to the next area where they were given pens and paper and were asked to write different ways they can stop bullying and help people when they are being bulled. They are then linked in a chain to show if they all bond together, they become stronger. The last station was learning about the long lasting friendships we have as a sorority and what it means to be a good friend.

Our next event was MEdia day. MEdia day was a journey through media and the different things the media influences. We used a Journey book through the Girl Scouts to go through many different phases. We first went on to Georgia Southern's campus and did a tour of the George-Anne, Eagle Radio and Eagle News. We showed the girls the way each of the media centers work and how they change certain things to appeal to certain audiences. We then went back to the Kappa Delta house and did a mini fashion show. We had donated clothes from Label Stockers, a consignment shop, to show that not having designer clothes do not mean you can dress cute and fun. After, we watched videos of the Dove campaign for real beauty and had snacks.
